I thought folk might like to see a guest at our Thanksgiving dinner a few days ago. She slipped in without us inviting her, but did not eat much, just the pumpkin pie.
As I think about a surprise guest, I am reminded that Christ is always (or should be) at our table. I wonder if He smiles, or what would he like to eat on our menu? Have you ever wondered about the fact that Christ dwells everywhere? Would there be times, I might wish He were not present?
If he were at my table, in real person, there really are questions I would love to ask him, including what did he enjoy most at our meal today – the turkey, sweet potatoes, our conversation, or our thoughts? Sometimes I think we need to involve him more personally in our thinking. Chatting aloud (assuming no one else was around, thinking we were crazy). That might make God more real. I did have some verbal conversations with God while preparing for and recovering from my heart surgery. I think it helped.
Join me to think and remember that God is there is our presence all the time.
Share with me the question you would most like to ask God if he were in your home tonight.
