God's Care for His People

Say “Thank You God for Everyday Comfort”

Are you complaining today about the cooking facilities at your home? Has your freezer destroyed your favorite garden produce saved for delicious, fresh vegetable soup? Did one of the kids/spouse/visitor just drop your favorite mixing bowl or the antique glass from grandma’s legacy? Perhaps you or one of the kids thought you burned the toast slightly or failed to fix sufficient green beans (ho! Ho!).

As I looked at this kitchen found on a trip to Africa, I mentally spanked myself for complaining when there are too many dishes to wash or the burner on the stove takes too long to clean after the soup boiled over. Imagine any of us wanting to prepare meals for a household in this primitive kitchen. Having to stoop down to the floor, in the first place, would be “knee breaking”.

When younger, we did a modest amount of tent camping and the campfire was a joyful experience, BUT every day with this simple array of metal dishes, an open fire in the little enclosure called the kitchen, (think of the smoke while you are cooking), and no fresh flowing water, garbage disposal, or electric mixer would certainly be tough.

So, friends, take a moment and thank God for some of your very simple blessings that you often take for granted. We each have been so blessed.
